The FIRST competition is a high profile, multi-disciplinary event that fosters proficiency in engineering, design, manufacturing, communication and business. FIRST, standing for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology”, was founded in 1989 by U.S. inventor and scientist Dean Kamen, the inventor of the Segway personal transportation device.
